AI-suggested
To mitigate CVE-2024-48809, organizations should first verify if they are running sdran-in-a-box v1.4.3 or onos-a1t v0.2.3 and plan to upgrade to patched versions once available from the Open Networking Foundations. In the absence of patches, network administrators should implement strict network segmentation and firewall rules to restrict access to the onos-a1t management interfaces, limiting exposure to trusted sources only. Monitoring network traffic for unusual patterns targeting the DeleteWatcher function or related API calls can help detect exploitation attempts early. Rate limiting and connection throttling on the affected services may reduce the risk of resource exhaustion. Additionally, deploying intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) with custom signatures for this vulnerability can provide proactive defense. Regular backups and failover mechanisms should be tested to ensure rapid recovery from potential DoS incidents. Engaging with the vendor or open-source community for updates and advisories is critical to stay informed about patches and mitigation strategies.
Description
An issue in Open Networking Foundations sdran-in-a-box v.1.4.3 and onos-a1t v.0.2.3 allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service via the onos-a1t component of the sdran-in-a-box, specifically the DeleteWatcher function.
