What to do

AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users and administrators should apply the official kernel updates that include this patch to remediate the issue. Since this is a kernel-level flaw, updating to a fixed kernel version is the recommended mitigation.

Description

CVE-2024-49986 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel affecting the x86-android-tablets platform code. The flaw occurs when platform_device_register() fails and the pdevs[] array is accessed after being freed by x86_android_tablet_remove(). This can lead to memory corruption and potentially allow an attacker with local privileges to cause denial of service or escalate privileges.
