A patch is available and has been released in multiple Linux kernel versions including 5.15.0-1088.95~20.04.1 and others. Users should upgrade to one of the fixed kernel versions to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
CVE-2024-49989 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AMD GPU driver (amdgpu) that causes a double free error during module unload. This occurs because flexible endpoints incorrectly free encoders of inflexible links, leading to a double free condition. The issue has been fixed in multiple patched Linux kernel versions.
