A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users and administrators should apply the official kernel updates that include this patch to remediate the issue. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, updating to the fixed kernel version is the recommended mitigation.
Description
CVE-2024-49991 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/amdkfd component. The flaw occurs because the pointer passed to amdgpu_bo_unref is not the original pointer, causing the original pointer to remain uncleared and potentially leading to use-after-free conditions. This vulnerability has been resolved by ensuring the correct pointer is cleared.
