A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to skip the TBT monitor HPD during resume, preventing the system hang. Users should update to a kernel version that includes this patch once available. No additional mitigation is required as the issue is addressed by this fix.

Description

CVE-2024-50003 is a medium-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AMD display driver that causes a system hang during resume from suspend when connected to a Thunderbolt (TBT) monitor. The issue occurs because the TBT monitor's hot-plug detect (HPD) triggers during resume and calls drm_client_modeset_probe() while a critical device pointer is NULL, disrupting the pipe topology. The fix involves skipping the TBT monitor HPD during resume since connectors are probed afterward by default.
