What to do

AI-suggested

A fix is available that reverts the commit causing the issue by removing the call to devm_usb_put_phy() in sunxi_musb_exit(). Users and administrators should apply the updated Linux kernel version containing this fix to mitigate the vulnerability.

Description

CVE-2024-50269 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's USB musb sunxi driver. It occurs when the USB PHY resource is accessed after it has been released due to improper handling in the driver code. This flaw was introduced by a commit that explicitly released the USB PHY on exit but did not account for subsequent accesses after re-registration of the platform driver. The issue has been fixed by reverting the problematic commit and removing the release call.
