A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include the fix for CVE-2024-50275. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond updating to a patched kernel version.
Description
CVE-2024-50275 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's arm64 architecture handling of Scalable Vector Extension (SVE) traps. The flaw involves incorrect manipulation of saved FPSIMD/SVE CPU state, which can lead to stale CPU state being reused after preemption and migration between CPUs. This results in warnings and potential inconsistencies when SVE traps occur unexpectedly. The issue is fixed by ensuring stale CPU state is discarded properly during trap handling.
