What to do

AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users and administrators should apply the official kernel updates that include the patch for CVE-2024-50276. Since no explicit fixed versions are provided, consult the Linux kernel vendor advisories or update to the latest stable kernel release to ensure remediation.

Description

CVE-2024-50276 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's vertexcom mse102x driver that causes a possible double free of the TX socket buffer (skb). This flaw can lead to kernel crashes due to freeing the same memory twice during transmission frame handling. The issue arises because the scope of the TX skb is broader than the function mse102x_tx_frame_spi(), and improper freeing of the original skb pointer results in an internal kernel error and system instability.
