What to do

AI-suggested

A fix has been applied in the Linux kernel source to prevent the NULL pointer dereference by checking for AE_NOT_FOUND and bailing out early. Users should update their Linux kernel to a version that includes this fix once available. No additional mitigations are specified or required.

Description

CVE-2024-53060 is a medium severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AMDGPU driver where a NULL pointer dereference can occur if the ATIF interface is not supported. This happens because acpi_evaluate_object() may return AE_NOT_FOUND, leading to dereferencing a NULL pointer. The issue has been fixed by adding a check to bail out when AE_NOT_FOUND is returned, preventing the NULL pointer dereference.
