No explicit patch or fixed version information is provided in the input data. Until a fix is applied, avoid running untrusted code or workloads that heavily use the btrfs filesystem on affected kernel versions. Monitor official Linux kernel advisories for updates and patches addressing this issue.
Description
CVE-2024-56582 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the btrfs filesystem implementation of the Linux kernel, specifically in the function btrfs_encoded_read_endio(). This flaw was identified through kernel address sanitizer (KASAN) detection during filesystem tests. The vulnerability can lead to high impact including confidentiality, integrity, and availability compromise due to improper memory handling.
