What to do

AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented that adds proper bounds checking on the hpd_source index in the affected function. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes this patch once it is released. Until then, no specific workaround is provided. Monitor vendor advisories for official patches.

Description

CVE-2024-56608 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AMD GPU driver where an out-of-bounds array access could occur in the dcn21_link_encoder_create function. The issue arises from an unchecked hpd_source index used to access a fixed-size array, potentially causing undefined behavior. The vulnerability has been fixed by adding a bounds check that returns NULL if the index is invalid.
