What to do

AI-suggested

A fix is available as the vulnerability has been resolved in the Linux kernel. Users should update to the fixed kernel version containing the patch that removes the UNLOADING flag signal and relies solely on kthread_stop to terminate the dpc_thread. No additional mitigation is required once patched.

Description

CVE-2024-56623 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the qla2xxx SCSI driver of the Linux kernel. The flaw occurs during module unload when two signals attempt to terminate the dpc_thread, causing a race condition that leads to a system crash. The issue is fixed by removing one termination signal and relying solely on kthread_stop for cleanup.
