What to do

AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users should update to a kernel version that includes the fix for this issue. Since this is a kernel-level bug, applying the official kernel patch or upgrading to a fixed kernel release is the recommended remediation.

Description

CVE-2024-56630 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ocfs2 filesystem driver where an inode is not properly freed when ocfs2_get_init_inode() fails. This issue was introduced by a commit that handled errors from dquot_initialize() but forgot to call iput() after new_inode() succeeded and dquot_initialize() failed, leading to busy inodes after unmount.
