What to do

Until a patch is available, cautious use of the affected driver or kernel version is advised.

Description

CVE-2024-56660 is a medium severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's net/mlx5 driver related to error pointer dereference. The issue arises because the dr_domain_add_vport_cap() function can return either NULL or an error pointer with -EBUSY, but sometimes returns an error pointer with -ENOMEM that is improperly propagated and eventually dereferenced, leading to a potential kernel crash.
