What to do

AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability is available in the Linux kernel source code as the issue has been resolved by caching the tipc_net pointer. Users should update to the fixed kernel version once released. No other mitigation or workaround is indicated.

Description

CVE-2024-56661 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's TIPC (Transparent Inter-Process Communication) subsystem where a NULL pointer dereference occurs in the cleanup_bearer() function. This flaw was identified by syzbot and involves a NULL dereference of ub->ubsock->sk leading to a general protection fault. The issue has been fixed by caching the tipc_net pointer to prevent the NULL dereference.
