AI-suggested
- Restrict network access to MonetDB servers by implementing firewall rules and network segmentation to limit exposure to untrusted networks.
- Monitor database server logs and network traffic for unusual or malformed SQL queries that could indicate exploitation attempts.
- Employ Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) or database activity monitoring tools capable of detecting and blocking suspicious SQL injection patterns targeting the exp_ref component.
- Disable or limit external access to MonetDB instances where possible, especially from the public internet.
- Prepare incident response plans to quickly identify and mitigate DoS conditions affecting MonetDB services.
- Stay informed about official patches or updates from MonetDB maintainers and apply them promptly once available.
- Consider deploying rate limiting or query throttling mechanisms to reduce the impact of potential DoS attempts.
- Conduct regular security assessments and penetration testing focused on database components to identify and remediate similar injection vulnerabilities proactively.
Description
An issue in the exp_ref component of MonetDB Server v11.49.1 allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via crafted SQL statements.
