What to do

AI-suggested

A patch has been applied to the Linux kernel that checks the return value of sock_recvmsg when draining clc data, preventing the deadloop. Users should apply the official kernel updates containing this fix to mitigate the vulnerability.

Description

CVE-2024-57791 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's net/smc component related to improper handling of the length field in smc_clc_msg_hdr during receipt of clc messages. The length field, sourced from network data, may be larger than the buffer length, potentially causing a deadlock loop when draining excess data. A patch has been applied to check the return value of sock_recvmsg to prevent this deadlock.
