AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been released by the vendor. Users should update to the fixed Linux kernel versions 5.4.0-1090.95~18.04.1 or later as listed in the established facts. Applying these official fixes will remediate the vulnerability by ensuring the struct is zero-initialized before use, preventing information leakage. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the vendor-provided updates.
Description
CVE-2024-57912 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's iio pressure sensor driver (zpa2326) where an uninitialized memory hole in a struct used for triggered buffer data can leak information to user space. The flaw arises because a gap between temperature and timestamp fields in the struct is not zero-initialized before use. This issue has been fixed by initializing the struct to zero before pushing data to user space, preventing leakage of uninitialized kernel memory.
