Description
CVE-2024-57917 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's topology code where the cpumask was not kept unchanged during printing of cpumap, leading to inconsistent string formatting results. This issue was discovered during fuzz testing and involves a race condition caused by CPU hotplugging modifying the core_cpumask while printing. The flaw has been fixed by caching the cpumask before printing to ensure consistency. Multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 5.15.0-1080.87~20.04.1 and others are affected. A patch is available and has been released in fixed versions.
