Vendor/Project: Chimpstudio
Product: WP Foodbakery

Description

The WP Foodbakery plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to privilege escalation via account takeover in all versions up to, and including, 4.8. Technical Analysis

The WP Foodbakery plugin for WordPress suffers from an authentication bypass vulnerability (CWE-288) that enables privilege escalation via account takeover. This occurs because the plugin does not properly validate a user's identity before assigning the current user context and authentication cookie. As a result, unauthenticated attackers can gain unauthorized access to accounts, including those with administrative privileges. The vulnerability affects all versions up to and including 4.8 and has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 9.8, indicating critical severity.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows unauthenticated attackers to fully compromise user accounts, including administrators, leading to complete control over the affected WordPress site. This includes confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts as indicated by the CVSS vector (C:H/I:H/A:H). There are no known exploits in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since no patch links or official fixes are provided, users should monitor the vendor's communications for updates. Until a fix is available, consider disabling the WP Foodbakery plugin or restricting access to the affected WordPress installation to trusted users only.
