Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: sevenspark
Product: Contact Form 7 – Dynamic Text Extension

Description

The The Contact Form 7 – Dynamic Text Extension plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary shortcode execution in all versions up to, and including, 5.0.6. This is due to the software allowing users to execute an action that does not properly validate a value before running do_shortcode. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary shortcodes. The vulnerability was partially patched in version 5.0.4.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2025-13146 is a CWE-94 code injection vulnerability in the Contact Form 7 – Dynamic Text Extension WordPress plugin by sevenspark. The plugin improperly controls the generation of code by allowing unauthenticated users to execute arbitrary shortcodes due to insufficient validation before invoking do_shortcode. This affects all versions up to and including 5.0.6. A partial patch was introduced in version 5.0.4, but the vulnerability remains exploitable in later versions up to 5.0.6. No official remediation level or patch is confirmed beyond this partial fix.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker can execute arbitrary shortcodes within the vulnerable plugin, potentially leading to limited confidentiality and integrity impacts as indicated by the CVSS vector (C:L/I:L/A:N). This can allow unauthorized actions within the WordPress environment that the shortcode can perform. There is no indication of availability impact or known exploits in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. A partial patch was applied in version 5.0.4, but versions up to 5.0.6 remain vulnerable. Users should monitor for an official fix from the vendor and apply updates once available. Until then, consider restricting access or disabling the plugin if feasible.
