Technical Analysis

CVE-2025-15700 is a vulnerability in the AWP Classifieds WordPress plugin prior to version 4.4.9. The plugin's listing-import feature accepts ZIP archives but fails to validate the types of files extracted from these archives. This allows users with the plugin's management capability to upload arbitrary PHP files to a publicly accessible directory on the network share. Such an upload can lead to remote code execution by executing the uploaded PHP files.

Potential Impact

An attacker with management capabilities in the AWP Classifieds plugin can upload malicious PHP files, leading to remote code execution on the affected system. This could compromise the server hosting the WordPress site, potentially allowing full control over the environment.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in version 4.4.9 of the AWP Classifieds plugin. Users should upgrade to version 4.4.9 or later to remediate this vulnerability. Until upgraded, restrict management capabilities to trusted users only.
