What to do

AI-suggested

A patch series addressing this vulnerability has been released, fixing the handling of device-exclusive entries with hugetlb VMAs. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include these fixes. No alternative mitigations or workarounds are indicated. Testing and validation of the fix in environments with multiple GPUs or device-exclusive entries are recommended.

Description

CVE-2025-22034 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's memory management subsystem related to handling device-exclusive entries with huge page VMAs. The flaw causes improper handling of device-exclusive pages when Transparent Huge Pages (THP) or hugetlb VMAs are involved, leading to issues such as pages that cannot be swapped out and memory migration failures. This can cause system instability, including infinite loops during memory block offlining. The vulnerability has been addressed by rejecting FOLL_SPLIT_PMD with hugetlb VMAs and fixing device-exclusive entry handling.
