AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms that this and other kernel vulnerabilities have been fixed in updated kernel packages. Users should update their Linux kernel to the fixed versions provided by their distribution. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ibmveth network driver caused the veth_pool_store function to hang due to improper synchronization when multiple threads accessed it concurrently. This could lead to system hangs when writing to specific sysfs entries. The issue was resolved by using rtnl_mutex to synchronize access, preventing multiple consecutive calls to napi_disable that caused the hang. The fix is included in updated Linux kernel versions.
