What to do

AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel by adding proper locking to the ibmveth driver functions. Users should update to a kernel version that includes this fix once available. Until then, avoid concurrent writes to the affected sysfs pool attributes to prevent hangs.

Description

CVE-2025-22053 is a medium-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ibmveth network driver. The flaw caused the veth_pool_store function to hang due to improper synchronization when multiple threads accessed it concurrently via sysfs. This could lead to system hangs when writing to specific pool attributes. The issue was resolved by adding proper locking with rtnl_mutex to synchronize veth_pool_store with related functions, preventing multiple consecutive calls to napi_disable that caused the hang.
