What to do

AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented upstream by invalidating the cache and decrementing cached dst counters in dst_release. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix. Since no specific patch links are provided, users should monitor the Linux kernel mailing lists or vendor advisories for the relevant patch. No alternative mitigations are indicated.

Description

CVE-2025-22057 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to improper handling of cached destination (dst) counters in the networking subsystem. The issue arises when the kernel attempts to decrement cached dst counters during dst_release, particularly when CONFIG_DST_CACHE is enabled and Open vSwitch (OvS) with tunnels is used. This can lead to a kernel paging fault due to accessing freed memory. The vulnerability has been addressed by invalidating the cache and decrementing cached dst counters properly in dst_release.
