What to do
AI-suggested
A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel by correcting the error code handling in msm_parse_deps(). Users and administrators should apply the official kernel patch referenced in the Patchwork link (https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/637625/) or update to a kernel version that includes this fix. No additional mitigations are specified.
Description
CVE-2025-22096 is a medium severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/msm/gem component. The issue arises from incorrect handling of error codes in the msm_parse_deps() function, where an error code is negated twice, resulting in a positive error code that bypasses error pointer checks and leads to a kernel oops (crash). This flaw has been fixed by removing the redundant negation operation.
