AI-suggested
A fix is available and has been applied in updated Linux kernel versions. Users should update to the patched kernel versions as listed in the advisory. The patch properly masks the bd_cnt field to prevent out-of-range values and TX BD corruption. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official kernel updates.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's bnxt_en driver was resolved by properly masking the bd_cnt field in the TX BD. The bd_cnt field, which specifies the total number of buffer descriptors for a TX packet, is 5 bits wide and supports a maximum value of 32 represented as 0. Without proper masking, out-of-range bd_cnt values could corrupt the TX BD and cause TX timeouts. This issue affects specific Linux kernel versions and has been addressed by adding a macro to mask the bd_cnt field correctly.
