What to do

AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to add proper bounds checking in the ppp_sync_txmung function. Users and administrators should apply the official kernel updates that include this fix to mitigate the vulnerability. Since this is a kernel-level issue, updating to a patched kernel version is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

CVE-2025-37749 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's PPP network code where insufficient bounds checking on skb data in the ppp_sync_txmung function could lead to out-of-bounds memory access when processing short packets with empty payloads. This flaw has been fixed by adding proper bounds checking to ensure safe access to skb linear buffer data.
