A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The fix involves proper teardown of the routing table on probe failure in the DSA subsystem. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions as provided by their distribution. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official kernel updates.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Distributed Switch Architecture (DSA) subsystem was resolved. The issue occurs during the probe failure of the last switch in a DSA tree setup, where routing table entries referencing freed memory remain, leading to potential use-after-free conditions. This flaw can cause kernel memory corruption and system instability. The vulnerability has been fixed by refactoring the routing table teardown to properly delete the entire routing table on probe failure. The fix is included in updated Linux kernel versions.
