An official fix is available and should be applied. The vulnerability has been resolved in updated Linux kernel versions as per the vendor advisory. Users should update to patched kernel versions to mitigate this issue.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NTFS3 filesystem driver could cause a NULL pointer dereference during write operations when a user executes an ioctl to clear the compress flag before the write completes. This leads to a synchronization issue causing the kernel to call incorrect operations, resulting in a crash. The issue has been fixed by synchronizing ioctl and write operations using an inode lock.
