Description

CVE-2025-37945 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's network PHY subsystem where the MDIO bus power management operations do not properly start or stop the PHY state machine for phylink-controlled PHY devices during suspend and resume cycles. This can cause warnings and potential instability due to the PHY state machine running unexpectedly after resume. The issue affects certain DSA drivers and other MAC drivers using phylink with MDIO bus-managed PHY power management. The vulnerability has been addressed in Linux kernel versions 5.15.63 and 5.19.4.
