A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms that this issue has been fixed. Users should update their Linux kernel packages to the fixed versions provided by their distribution. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's dmaengine idxd driver could cause a kernel panic or call trace when running IDXD workloads in a container with the /dev directory mounted, triggered by improper handling of workqueue availability during driver detachment. This occurs due to Docker not properly propagating mount replicas back to the original mount point, leading to use-after-free conditions in the workqueue. The issue has been resolved with a patch that adds a check for the workqueue's existence before attempting to drain it.
