An official patch is available and should be applied. The Ubuntu security advisory USN-7879-1 confirms that this and other Linux kernel vulnerabilities have been fixed. Users should update their Linux kernel packages to the patched versions provided by their distribution.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's iio: common: st_sensors driver caused kernel panic due to use of uninitialized device structures during probe functions. Specifically, the uninitialized device pointer led to a panic in st_sensors_power_enable() when devm_regulator_bulk_get_enable() failed and dev_err_probe() was called. Other error logging functions did not cause a panic but were also fixed. This issue has been resolved with an official patch.
