A fix is available for this vulnerability. Users should apply the official Linux kernel patches that address backlog accounting in the net/sched subsystem, specifically for the affected queue disciplines. Since this is a kernel-level issue, upgrading to patched kernel versions is the recommended remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's network scheduler (net/sched) affects backlog accounting in the qdisc_dequeue_internal function for several queue disciplines (hhf, fq, fq_codel, fq_pie). The issue causes incorrect backlog accounting when the tbf parent runs out of tokens, leading to underflow in the parent's backlog counter. This has been fixed by simplifying the codepath and unifying backlog adjustments across affected qdiscs.
