A fix is available and has been applied in multiple Linux kernel commits as listed in the established facts. Users and administrators should update affected Linux kernel versions to incorporate these patches. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A race condition vulnerability in the Linux kernel's rainshadow-cec driver was fixed. The issue involved a Time-of-Check to Time-of-Use (TOCTOU) race in the rain_interrupt() handler, where a buffer full check was done without proper locking, allowing concurrent interrupts to overflow the buffer. The fix moves the spin lock to cover the check and buffer modification atomically, preventing overflow.
