A fix is available that properly respects the gfp_mask in kasan_populate_vmalloc() and its helpers. Users should apply the official Linux kernel patches that address this issue. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, upgrading to patched kernel versions is the recommended remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's memory management subsystem (mm/vmalloc and mm/kasan) was fixed by ensuring that the kasan_populate_vmalloc() function respects the caller's gfp_mask parameter. Previously, this function ignored the gfp_mask and always used the hardcoded GFP_KERNEL flag, causing inconsistencies with vmalloc() which supports GFP_NOFS and GFP_NOIO. This could lead to deadlocks, for example, when xfs calls vmalloc with GFP_NOFS. The fix extends kasan_populate_vmalloc() and its helpers to accept and use the gfp_mask properly and enforces correct memory allocation semantics.
