A fix is available and has been applied in several Linux kernel commits. Users should update to a patched kernel version that includes these fixes. Since this is not a cloud service, manual patching is required. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
CVE-2025-39952 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's wilc1000 wireless driver that could lead to a buffer overflow in the WID string configuration. The flaw was identified by a static analysis tool (Smatch) due to an unchecked memcpy operation that could overflow a buffer. The issue is fixed by introducing size checks based on the WID type and length fields before accessing memory buffers.
