A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. The vendor advisory from Ubuntu confirms that this and other kernel vulnerabilities have been fixed in updated kernel releases. Users should update their Linux kernel to a fixed version as provided by their distribution to mitigate this issue.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/msm subsystem caused a kernel NULL pointer dereference due to improper validation of the SSPP (Source Surface Pixel Processor) when it was not ready. This flaw could lead to a kernel crash (Oops) triggered by referencing a null pointer during plane resource validation in multi-rect mode. The issue has been resolved by skipping SSPP validation for the current plane when it is not yet associated with any SSPP.
