AI-suggested

A patch is available for this vulnerability. Users should update their Linux kernel to version 6.17.0-14.14 or later (or the corresponding patched versions listed in the Ubuntu advisories USN-8029-1 and USN-8030-1) and reboot the system to apply the fix. Due to an ABI change, recompilation and reinstallation of third-party kernel modules may be required. Follow the vendor's update instructions carefully to ensure full remediation.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ASoC Intel sof_sdw driver was fixed by adding a check to ensure the add_sidecar callback is not NULL before calling it in create_sdw_dailink(). The original code assumed that if include_sidecar was true, the codec on that link had an add_sidecar callback, but this was not always the case, potentially leading to a jump to NULL pointer. This flaw has been addressed in updated Linux kernel versions. The vulnerability is rated medium severity and affects multiple specific kernel versions. A patch is available and users are advised to update and reboot to apply the fix.
