What to do
AI-suggested
A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to return an error for zero-length DMA transfer requests and invalid continuation conditions. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this patch. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the provided data; therefore, check the Linux kernel vendor advisory for the current remediation guidance.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's accel/qaic component was resolved by treating a zero-length DMA transfer request as an error in the find_and_map_user_pages() function. Previously, if a DMA transfer request had a length of zero or a rare continuation condition occurred, the function could return success without properly setting up necessary structures, leading to a general protection fault when subsequent code accessed uninitialized data. The fix returns an EINVAL error for zero-sized requests or invalid continuation signals, preventing this fault.
