Users should monitor Red Hat's security advisories for updates. Since the vulnerability requires local access and low privileges, restricting local access and usage of fig2dev to trusted users can reduce risk. No vendor advisory states that no action is required or that the issue is already mitigated.

Description

CVE-2025-46399 is a vulnerability in the fig2dev utility of the xfig software that allows a local attacker with low privileges to cause a denial of service by triggering a NULL pointer dereference in the genge_itp_spline function. This results in a segmentation fault and crashes the process. The vulnerability affects Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat In-Vehicle OS. The issue is rated as moderate severity with a CVSS score of 5.5.
