VulnerabilityCVE-2025-5090cvecve-2025-5090cwe-20
Published: 06/05/2026 (06/05/2026, 15:49:27 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Arista Networks
Product: EOS / CloudVision eXchange (CVX)

Description

CVX is not resilient to unexpected messages from a connected switch. This leads to agent crashes on CVX causing instability in the CVX cluster. An attacker could use this behavior to create a denial of service (DoS) scenario. Note that this would require the attacker to have a high privilege access to the connected switch to be able to send custom TCP packets to the CVX.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in Arista Networks EOS / CloudVision eXchange (CVX) arises from improper input validation (CWE-20). CVX does not handle unexpected messages from connected switches properly, causing agent crashes and cluster instability. An attacker with high privilege access to a connected switch could exploit this by sending custom TCP packets, resulting in a denial of service (DoS) condition. The vulnerability affects versions 4.30.0, 4.31.0, 4.32.0M, 4.33.0M, and 4.34.0F. No official remediation or patch has been documented in the provided data.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation leads to denial of service by crashing the CVX agent and destabilizing the CVX cluster. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity reported. The attack requires high privilege access on a connected switch, limiting the attack surface.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Since no official fix or remediation level is provided, monitor Arista Networks advisories for updates. Limit high privilege access on connected switches to reduce risk.
