Technical Analysis

AMI AptioV BIOS contains a local privilege vulnerability classified as CWE-787 (Out-of-bounds Write). A local attacker with high privileges can trigger an out-of-bounds write leading to buffer overflow and memory corruption. This may enable arbitrary code execution and compromise system confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The CVSS 4.0 score is 7.1, reflecting high severity with attack vector local, high attack complexity, and no user interaction required. No vendor advisory or patch information is available to confirm remediation status.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows local attackers with high privileges to execute arbitrary code, potentially compromising system confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This could lead to system instability or unauthorized control over the BIOS environment.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict local access to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity related to BIOS modifications.
