Technical Analysis

CVE-2025-60476 describes a heap use-after-free vulnerability in the gf_odf_ac4_cfg_clean_list function located in /odf/descriptors.c of the GPAC Project's MP4Box software. Versions prior to 2.5 are affected. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by providing a specially crafted AC4 file, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) due to improper memory handling.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in a Denial of Service (DoS) by causing the application to crash or behave unpredictably due to use-after-free memory corruption. There is no information about code execution or data leakage.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, avoid processing untrusted or malformed AC4 files with affected versions of MP4Box.
