Description

CVE-2025-64433 is a path traversal vulnerability in KubeVirt versions prior to 1.5.3 and between 1.6.0-alpha.0 and before 1.6.1. It allows a virtual machine to read arbitrary files from the virt-launcher pod's file system by exploiting improper symlink handling when mounting PVC disks. The vulnerability arises because symbolic links controlled by an attacker can point to files on the pod's file system, which libvirt treats as block devices and mounts into the VM. A secondary flaw changes file ownership to an unprivileged user, bypassing intended access restrictions. This issue is fixed in versions 1.5.3 and 1.6.1.
