AI-suggested
- Implement strict input validation and sanitization on the "Product Name" and "Short Description" fields to prevent injection of malicious scripts.
- Apply proper output encoding/escaping on all user-generated content before rendering it in the browser to neutralize any embedded scripts.
- Restrict access to product management interfaces to trusted administrators only, and monitor for unusual input patterns or changes.
- Employ Content Security Policy (CSP) headers to limit the execution of unauthorized scripts in browsers.
- Regularly audit and review stored product data for suspicious or unexpected content.
- Educate staff about the risks of XSS and the importance of secure data entry practices.
- Monitor web application logs and user activity for signs of exploitation attempts.
- Stay alert for official patches or updates from nopCommerce and apply them promptly once available.
- Consider deploying Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) with rules targeting XSS payloads as an interim protective measure.
Description
nopCommerce 4.90.0 is vulnerable to Cross Site Scripting (XSS) in the product management functionality. Malicious payloads inserted into the "Product Name" and "Short Description" fields are stored in the backend database and executed automatically whenever a user views the affected pages.
