What to do
AI-suggested
To mitigate CVE-2025-65715, organizations should implement the following specific measures: 1) Educate developers and users to avoid opening untrusted or unsolicited Visual Studio Code workspaces, especially those received via email or unknown sources. 2) Restrict or disable the Code Runner extension in environments where it is not essential, or use Visual Studio Code's extension management policies to control extension installation and execution. 3) Employ workspace trust features in Visual Studio Code to limit code execution capabilities to trusted workspaces only. 4) Monitor development environments for unusual process executions or network activity indicative of exploitation attempts. 5) Use endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools to detect and block suspicious behaviors related to code execution. 6) Stay updated with vendor advisories and apply patches promptly once available. 7) Consider sandboxing development environments or using virtual machines to isolate potential impacts. These targeted steps go beyond generic advice by focusing on controlling extension usage, workspace trust, and user behavior specific to this vulnerability.
Description
