Published: Fri May 08 2026 (05/08/2026, 00:00:00 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5

Description

An issue was discovered in Control Web Panel (CWP) before 0.9.8.1209. User input passed via the "key" GET parameter to /admin/index.php (when the "api" parameter is set) is not properly sanitized before being used to execute OS commands. This can be exploited by unauthenticated attackers to inject and execute arbitrary OS commands with the privileges of root on the web server. Softaculous or SitePad must be present.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2025-67888 is a command injection vulnerability in Control Web Panel (CWP) prior to version 0.9.8.1209. The issue occurs because the "key" GET parameter is not properly sanitized before being used in OS command execution within /admin/index.php when the "api" parameter is set. Exploitation requires the presence of Softaculous or SitePad and allows unauthenticated attackers to run arbitrary commands as root on the server.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation enables unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary operating system commands with root privileges on the affected web server. This can lead to full system compromise, data theft, service disruption, or further attacks originating from the compromised server.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the affected endpoint and disable the API parameter if possible. Monitor for updates from the Control Web Panel vendor regarding patches or official mitigations.
