AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied. The fix is included in Linux kernel versions 6.17.0-1007.7~24.04.1 and later, as well as 6.17.0-1008.8~24.04.1, 6.17.0-1008.8, and 6.17.0-1011.11 and later. Users should update to these fixed versions to prevent the use-after-free and associated system crashes.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/xe/guc driver was resolved by adding a devm-managed release action to safely tear down the Command Transport Buffer (CTB). The flaw occurred when a buffer object allocated with the XE_BO_FLAG_GGTT_INVALIDATE flag triggered TLB invalidation requests, but premature release of the CTB buffer could cause system crashes. The fix ensures proper CTB disablement before resource deallocation, preventing crashes due to use-after-free.
